Do you experience pain in your muscles and joints that just doesn’t seem to go away? You may have the condition known a chronic fatigue syndrome, an affliction that affects thousands of people just like you every day.

My name is Dr. First Last and I am going to outline the basics behind this debilitating disease that is often mistaken for Lyme disease or Fibromyalgia.

You don’t need to have your life impaired by the demands of this condition. You can put chronic fatigue in its place and carry on with your day.

More than Just Being Tired

Many people think that chronic fatigue syndrome is simply characterized by a frequent need for rest. However, it is much more complex than that.

Chronic fatigue syndrome can often feel like one has the flu, as their body aches all over. Their joints and muscles cry out in pain, and after weeks of experiencing the problem, an individual knows that something is seriously wrong.

The disease can also affect a person’s brain function, in that their memory and ability to concentrate may be impaired. They may even have a headache and may have a sudden sensitivity to light and sound.

Perhaps you can relate to these symptoms. Maybe you thought you had some other ailment because of the variety of warning signs and that you have been struggling with. There is a good chance that you may have chronic fatigue syndrome, but it is important to find out for sure.

The Mystery Disease

While researchers are still working to discover the exact causes of chronic fatigue syndrome, there are currently several suspects that are presumed to trigger the disease.

Some of the most likely contributors to chronic fatigue are:

  • Stress
  • Toxicity
  • Environmental factors
  • Food Sensitivities
  • Overactive immune system, causing an inflamed nervous system
  • Low blood pressure
  • Anemia

Studies have revealed that sometimes the immune system may think that it is fighting an infection even when it is not, thus causing the body to overwork. Most commonly, this condition affects women aged 30-50, and is not normally given a definitive diagnosis until an individual has suffered with the symptoms for at least six months. Doctors normally need to analyze a patient’s condition to ensure that the individual is not dealing with a similar disease, like Lyme disease or Fibromyalgia.

It is important to seek medical help as early as possible so proper evaluation can begin sooner than later. Every month that you put off obtaining help is another month added onto your suffering. You certainly don’t want that, do you?

Obtaining to a Definitive Diagnosis

Because the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome are so similar to other common diseases, it is important that each aspect of your suffering is tested completely to rule out other ailments.

You will need to schedule time with a medical professional to discuss how you have been feeling, your family history, the duration of your symptoms, etc.  You may also need to make various appointments for proper testing.

The following is a list of some of the diseases whose warning signs are similar with those of chronic fatigue syndrome:

  • Influenza
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Lyme Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Anemia
  • Lupus
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Auto Immune Disorder
  • Depression
  • Kidney Disease
  • Liver Disease

As you can see, what you are experiencing could be any one of these conditions.  Therefore, it is important to seek a conclusive diagnosis and not make any assumptions about what you have or don’t have.

One thing I’m sure you agree with is that you need to get your life back. Every time you have difficulty pulling yourself out of bed, or getting dressed, or spending time with the family without feeling completely exhausted is a warning sygnal to seek help. You NEED to do it, both for yourself and for the ones you love.
