“5 Things Every New Mother Must Know About Infant & Pediatric Gum Disease Before It’s Too Late!”

Dear Parent,

Did you know that recent studies have shown that gingivitis – the very first stage of periodontal disease – is almost as common in young children and adolescents as it is in adults? It’s true.

Mistakenly, most parents believe that gum disease is a problem only adults experience. This is unfortunate because gum disease plays no favorites…it’s attacks all ages equally.

Once parents realize this, they immediately start asking questions…”What is pediatric gum disease?” “Does my child have it?” Could they get it?” “How do I know?” “I’ve seen some signs, how can I be sure what this is?”

Being that you are reading this report, you have probably asked the same, if not similar questions. If so, don’t worry. You’re in the right place!

Hi, my name is Dr. Last. I’m a dentist right here in City1 and I literally observe and battle hidden, undetected & detected pediatric gum conditions on a daily basis for my little patients.

I’m so glad you found this report. Because if your child does have pediatric gum disease, you need to take action asap and destroy it before it’s too late. Later, I’ll give you an opportunity to do just that. But first, let’s look at gingivitis for closely.

“How Do I Know If My Child Has Pediatric Gum Disease?”

Let’s take a look at the most common types of pediatric periodontal disease. Remember, pediatric gum disease and periodontal issues come in many different forms.  So you must be prepared for any type of problem your child may face, and prepared to help to prevent and treat the problem. This means you must first understand what you’re up against.

First we have chronic gingivitis – this is among the most common periodontal issues in children.  It typically makes a child’s gums turn red, swell up, and bleed quite easily.  It is important to note that if chronic gingivitis is left untreated, it can develop into a much more serious type of gum disease.

Then we have aggressive periodontitis - this form of gum disease impacts children who may otherwise be completely healthy.  Typically, it is localized to the first molars and incisors, and is defined by its reduction of the alveolar bone and low levels of dental plaque, and calculus.

We also have generalized aggressive periodontitis – this form of gum disease doesn’t typically develop until puberty.  Though it can appear a bit earlier.  Generalized aggressive periodontitis causes inflamed gums with a substantial build-up of plaque and calculus.  Left untreated, it can cause teeth to become loose.

Finally we have periodontitis associated with systemic disease – this issue is just as common in children as it is in adults.  It is a form of gum disease which is brought about by another condition in the body. These conditions can include: Type I Diabetes, Down Syndrome, and Papillon-Lefevre syndrome.

“How Can I Identify Actual Gum Disease?”

Essentially, there are four signs of gum disease that you should watch for in your child.  Should you recognize any of these symptoms, contact your pediatric dentist immediately:

Bleeding Gums - this may occur while brushing teeth, flossing, or at any other time.

Swollen Gums - puffy, gums that may be bright red in color.

Recessing Gums – this means that the gums will have drawn back and away from the teeth, sometimes to the point that the root is exposed.

Bad Breath – this does not just refer to regular bad breath after eating smelly foods or first thing in the morning.  It has to do with regular, constant bad breath that doesn’t seem to go away.

The most important part of treating pediatric gum disease is making sure that you find it as early as possible.

This means that your child must receive a professional periodontal examination as soon as possible, especially if you see any signs or symptoms. (In any case, your child should have regular dentist visits even if no signs are evident.)

If you don’t get infant gum disease checked out, it could turn into something much more. Let me explain. Pediatric gum disease may be a sign of another systemic disease.

Should your child be diagnosed with advanced or severe periodontitis – especially when it is resistant to treatments and therapies – it is very important that you bring your child to a pediatrician and have a general medical evaluation performed to rule out (or identify) a possible systemic disease.

Other than having your child routinely professionally examined, there are many steps that you can take at home to prevent periodontal disease. The foundation for this is building good oral health habits in your child.

“What You Must Do Right Now If You Feel Your Child May Have Pediatric Gum Disease…”

If your child’s gums are swollen, tender, recessed or bleed easily or if they have chronic bad breath chances are they could be in the early stages of pediatric gum disease.

And again, if left untreated, this can progress into full-blown periodontitis, a much more severe pediatric gum disease that can result in much worse!

And this is why itís SO important that you get your child checked as soon as possible!
